Gas Discharge Tube
Description
The Gas Discharge Tube (GDT) is a protective device which is filled with a certain proportion of noble gas, mixed gas, or other discharge media in the space between metal electrodes and metallized ceramics, and then sealed at high temperature to form a single-gap or multi-gap switch-type protective device.
When the protected circuit or equipment is subjected to a surge, the GDT changes from a high-impedance state to a low-impedance state and releases the surge energy, reducing the residual voltage of the circuit and protecting equipment or human bodies from the hazards of transient overvoltage.
